Fenix Candle Care Tips

A few tips to getting the most out of your candle

  • The first burn is the most important to getting the most out of your candle. Allow it to burn and melt the wax to the edges of the glass creating an even burn pool. This helps to get an even burn and avoids tunnelling for the lifetime of the candle
  • Before relighting  your candle give the wick a quick little trim to 5mm and make sure it's upright and centred. This will help a more even burn, steady flame and minimise mushrooming or sooting
  • Burn and enjoy your candle for up to 4 hours to get the most out of your candle
  • Keeping your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight will help keep it from fading and discolouring
  • Using a proper candle snuffer to extinguish your candles will help keep the wick in its upright position and wax from spilling. It also helps improve the burn time

A few final things to remember when enjoying your Fenix candle:

  • Don't leave it unattended when it’s lit
  • Pop it in a spot away from and out of reach of children and pets
  • Ensure there is safe distance between a burning candle and any clothing, books, curtains or anything flammable
  • Use a stable and heat resistant surface away from direct sunlight, drafts and fans to get the best out of your candles burn time and avoid any uneven burning, smoking or reduction in scent throw
  • Leave the candle to cool down before you touch the glass or try to move it - melted wax heats up the glass pretty quickly
  • If you discover a significant damage to your candle don’t light it as it may crack and wax may leak out

Sit back, relax and enjoy!

Jargon Buster

There are a few terms which are are commonly used when talking about candles and how to get the most out of them. To get you in 'the know' here is a few of the most used terms:

  • Burn pool - this is the melted area of wax that you can see when the candle is lit. You want this to stretch to the edge of the vessel evenly
  • Burn time - is a term used for the estimated amount of time you get out of your candle in optimal conditions
  • Tunnelling - when the wax is not evenly distributed to the edge of the vessel and creates a hole in the middle of the candle which means that you are not getting the most out of your candle
  • Mushrooming - sometimes you can see a 'mushroom' shape on top of the wick which you should trim with your wick trimmer before relighting the candle
  • Wick trimmer - is a special scissor shaped tool created to trim wicks and catch the burnt black sooty part of the wick
  • Snuffer - is a special tool used to extinguish the candle without blowing hot wax everywhere and also helps preserve the wick
